Living intentionally

It has been a long time due to sickness. Having a viral infection has been an awakening. Weeks after my initial sneeze and I still have symptoms and my energy levels are not the same. However I have been using the time to self explore. Intentionally seeking resources to help me find motivation. Especially when I have been overwhelmed with negative emotions because I have not been able to accomplish goals.

It has been listening to the following podcasts:

Happy black woman podcast by Rosetta Thurman.

Put yourself first podcast self care Kat Horrocks.

The Lavendaire lifestyle Aileen Xu.

Beautiful life self care with Gracy Obichawicz.

Colour full lives State Farm.

What I have taken away from listening to podcasts is I am in control of what I do with my life. Self care is more than a once a week ritual but it encompasses everything. From making a commitment to workout, making appointments to review physical health needs, eating healthy, investing in relationships, taking a moment to unplug from social media, having work life balance and so much more.

Also I have been slowly reading and digesting ‘What I know for sure’ by Oprah Winfrey. What an amazing book full of personal experiences categorised in the following chapters joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe, clarity, and power. A lovely ribbon marker to help save the page. Reading Oprah’s intimate stories have been truly uplifting and has put my own life into perspective.

These self care practices of listening to podcasts and reading have helped me realise it is okay to rest. How I can use this time to regroup and think clearly about where I am and how I can get where I want to be through living intentionally.

During my downtime I have payed more focus on my career and how I can align with my passion. I am happy to announce I am in the process of working on a project to help others use intentional practices.

This is the benefit of self care it encourages self development and positive assessment of self. I urge you to read, listen to podcasts, watch inspirational people who are doing what you want to do or who are making positive changes in the world. Find inspiration in what ever makes you feel connected. It can bring a source of encouragement and has the ability to improve mental well being.

Thank you for reading.

Please comment and let me know what podcasts, books or any sources you use as part of self care.
